How can you tell if your teen has psychic powers?

We are all born with the potential to develop psychic abilities. As young children we use our powers instinctively as we learn to understand our world. Invisible friends, seeing fairies, vivid dreams in which we seem to travel to fantastic places, and other spontaneous psychic experiences are common, but as we get older teachers, parents, even the media grab hold of our attention and focus it here in the material world. This is inevitable, and necessary for us to function in society in a healthy way. But with if our innate abilities are not so quickly submerged. What if a child grows up in an open minded family, or is able to indulge his or her psychic explorations. One of the first signs of psychic abilities in teens is that they still have these experiences.

Also as teenagers, these young psychics have access to a larger social network than they had as younger children. It is easier for them to seek like minded individuals and to form groups to explore together. Secrecy, therefore may be another of the signs of psychic abilities in teens, since they tend to keep these powers and their explorations to themselves, especially if the have unsympathetic families. Also look at what kinds of books draw their attention. Books on ESP, paganism, the occult, meditation, astral projection, or buying a tarot deck may all be attempts to learn more about the subtle realms. Sometimes the teen may have a strong interest in the history of psychic powers.  Again, secrecy may be a reflexive survival mechanism for the psychic teen, to avoid the wrath of parents that don't understand the information, or that don't believe in their own inherent abilities. Perhaps the best way to support a psychic teen is to join them. This way they feel more comfortable and even the parent may become more open to the realm of the psychic.

Another of the signs of psychic abilities in teens is related to their intuition and how well developed it may be. Perhaps you know a teen that seems to have a charmed life, always being in the right place at the right time? One that makes friends easily and is adept at relating closely to them. Maybe his or her intuitive ability is so finely honed that they instinctively know when a person is situation is helpful or not. Conversely a teen could be so intuitively open that they avoid people as much as possible due to an overload of psychic impressions. It is not uncommon that teens that retain their natural psychic abilities also have problems with control. In a time in there lives of such turmoil, sometimes having such gifts can seem a burden to them. Such a youth may avoid people to simply avoid feeling their thoughts or feelings. Or getting lost in them. They tend to be the young psychics that study and read about their abilities the most, seeking answers in many different sources. And unfortunately the least understood, since their avoidance can be mistaken for antisocial behavior.

It is important, when recognizing the signs of psychic abilities in teens, that we should also pay attention to our own intuition. Seeing these signs, we have the choice to help and nurture these abilities, or ignoring them, but what would be the greater service? More and more young people today are asking questions about the nature of reality. Even the science of Quantum Physics reveals the fact that there is more to the universe than the old outdated mechanistic view we've held for centuries. Now in our schools, students are being exposed to this new thought and to others that want to learn about energy, ESP and similar topics. The best service we can perform to them, once we've noticed this interest and seen the signs of psychic abilities coming to awareness, is to remember that we all possess these powers. We should encourage their development, and in so doing, we become more expanded individuals ourselves. Perhaps the best measure in detecting the signs of psychic abilities in teens is our own power and openmindedness.
